STOLEN KIDNEYS is a four-piece DIY band from Oulu, Northern Finland with a unique sound that combines elements from noise rock, sludge, screamo and post-hardcore. The band started in 2009 with the goal of creating low and heavy sounding music in the spirit of NEUROSIS or BREACH. Gradually, the music began to incorporate tones from the world of dissonant hardcore bands like CONVERGE and BOTCH, and the mood of UNWOUND and SLINT.
STOLEN KIDNEYS has released two full-length albums during its existence, RUIN (2017) and MAAILMA LOPPUU (2021). In addition, the band has released several smaller releases, such as Eps and split releases (NIKANDER, GRINS,…) on various labels (DAY AFTER RECORDS, SUSPECTED OF ARSON RECORDS,…).
After the release of their sophomore album “Maailma Loppuu”, the band found themselves at a crossroads where they could either continue as a heavier sludgy noise-rock band or expand and explore new horizons that would ultimately turn into the upcoming third album titled “Melankolia” (Melancholy).
The album further develops on the bands take on 90’s post-hardcore / noise rock with the usual suspects of UNWOUND, SLINT, THE JESUS LIZARD, SHELLAC and local heroes RADIOPUHELIMET, but also adding melody and the emotional weight of bands such as MAXIMILIAN COLBY, NAVIO FORGE, JULIA and BREAKWATER.
Melankolia was recorded and mixed in the Finnish countryside at Tonehaven Recording Studio by Tom Brooke (ORANSSI PAZUZU). Mastering duties were handled by the one and only, Will Killingsworth (Dead Air Studios, ORCHID).
Melankolia will be co-released on 26th June 2026 on vinyl by The Ghost Is Clear Records (USA), Bloodshed666 Records (Austria), minoRobscuR (Germany) and Day Off Records (France).
